The servers are coming down tomorrow (Tuesday, Dec. 19th) for another patch. This might be the last one of this year. Here is the announcement on the scheduled downtime page.

All EverQuest game servers will be brought down for patching on Tuesday December 19th at 3:00 AM PST(GMT-8). Estimated downtime is 8 hours.
